Lessons Learned

This weeks round of preps offers a couple of intriguing betting options and the War Pass paid workout.  War Pass gets a bunch of soft tomatoes to run against, while again facing no pressure on the front end at a short distance.  We will not learn anything with another win and the "mystique and aura" will continue on until the Wood Memorial.

The race that grabs my attention is way down yonder in Arkansas.  Normally I play pretty light on the Triple Crown Trail, a few plays here and there, but I think the Rebel may be the race to dip into the money clip and try to make some coin.

The angle that I'm betting against is "To be the Man, you have to Beat the man".  This weeks Rebel offers Z Fortune.  Z Fortune has many things going for him.  Great trainer, high name jock shipping in.  The horse that beat him last week Pyro, came back to win.  Visionaire who ran behind him came back to win.

This is one of those trap races.  Z Fortune will be getting bet like he is Pyro and Visionaire, the reality is that he has been runing against those horses, but he is not Pyro.

This is a big factor.  Every year along the trail, a horse finishes 2nd and in his next start get bet big and throws in a clunker.  I think he ran a nice race in the Risen Star but could be vulnerable here.

The 3 horses I have in Mind are Isabull, Sierra Sunset, and He's Eze.  Sierra Sunset is the most logical selection, but Isabull and He's Eze should have good position in this race.

Whenever a race looks too easy....Beware this is a trap race.  I'm betting against Z Fortune.

Out West.  Sprinters try to stretch out.  Georgie Boy has all kinds of sprint breeding and beings a son of Tribal Rule, worries me a little on the stretch out.  Gayego has run fast and has a good long distance Trainer.  He may be able to outrun his odds.
