CQ scores - Swale Lewis

Small Fields and low CQ scores in Graded preps in the Swale and Robert Lewis.

Crown of Thorns was visually impressive.  Had to wait racing room going into the turn, but accelerated quickly.  The CQ score was pretty much a 2.  Meal Penalty set uncontested fractions, A small challenge from Coast Guard entering the stretch was the only point in the race that it was every contested.  CQ 2

The Swale stakes, was a dominating front running win by Eaton's Gift, he had a little pressure on the back side, Wincat never fired and the CQ was a 2.  Very fast fractions.

Big Graded earnings by both of these 2 horses.  120,000 in earnings for Crown of Thorns and Eaton's Gift.  Remember Crown of Thorns owner and Trainer is B Wayne Hughes and Richard Mandella.  So a 3rd or 4th place finish in the Swale or Santa Anita Derby and he is in, along with Into Mischief.

Eaton's Gift is just one of many horses for the Zayat stable, I would love to see Eaton's Gift or Massive Drama soften up War Pass in a prep race or the Derby.  Zayat also has Riley Tucker running on Monday prepping for Tampa Bay.  Halo Najib runs on Feb 11th prepping for Turfway or maybe Tampa Bay.  

Earnings continue to be at a premium for horses like Z Fortune, Monba and others who have none they have to win, and they will face full fields to do it.  The Risen Star is coming up very tough next week.  Signature Move, Blackberry Road, Z Fortune, Pyro, Check It Twice, that's 5 horses fighting for the earnings check and only Pyro and Blackberry road have solid earnings.  Z fortune didn't get much graded earnings for winning the LeComte.
