The Big 3

Prep time coast to coast this weekend.  The three horses I'm most interested in watching are Atoned, Colonel John and El Gato Malo.

The Santa Anita Derby has actually come up with a large field.  With a mixture of speed, pressers and closers.  We should be able to see what kind of of the pace moves Colonel John and El Gato Malo make.  Both the Colonel and El Gato Malo have been working up a storm and I expect solid races as they move forward to Kentucky.

Out East rain may make the Wood Memorial a front running win for War Pass.  I'm still off his bandwagon, until I'm proven otherwise, he just looks unfit, unless he has been doing long slow gallops.

Denis of Cork figures to be the short price in the Illinois Derby.  But with a slow pace he may have to use energy staying with the field.  Atoned has shown, a lot of heart in his last 2 races.  He offers an interesting pedigree and may improve his 2nd start of the year.
